First Friends Preschool

First Lutheran Church near downtown Houston is a traditional, liturgical congregation and a member of the North American Lutheran Church (NALC). First Friends is our preschool and is run by Amanda McClanahan, Pastor McClanahan's wife.

First Friends is our fantastic preschool for children ages 3 months to four years. First Friends believes in teaching children and has an advanced curriculum to best care for your child. Learn more at their website here.

First Lutheran offers several opportunities for Christian education for children and adults. All classes are from Sunday mornings from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. There is always breakfast and coffee.

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, First Lutheran will host it's annual Oktoberfest from 11 am - 3 pm. We'll have games, music, food, beer, and fellowship on our beautiful front lawn. With a special focus on being child-friendly and affordable for families, its a great way to spend a Saturday in October. We'll see you there!

For almost fifteen years, First Lutheran has reached out to the students at the Central Campus of Houston Community College. Our latest venture is to be present outside to talk to students as they have a break from class.

We understand that there are unique situations where those who are not members of First Lutheran may wish to use our facilities for a wedding. If you are in such a unique situation, give us a call and we will see if we can work something out.

Feast at First

First Lutheran near downtown Houston is a traditional congregation and a member of the North American Lutheran Church (NALC). We have a monthly dinner club where we enjoy fellowship and delicious food. We also share some of our meal with the great guys at Fire Station #7.

Once a month, we host a potluck dinner at the church to offer time for fellowship and community-building. All are welcome to attend. It is usually the last Saturday of the month, but call to make sure!
